Reduce your effort and Attract Sales Effortlessly

Part 3: “Feeling Good Equal More Sales”

When you feel good it’s easy to make sales. When you feel bad it’s hard to make sales. Making more sales is as easy as that. Why? Because this is an attraction-based world we live in. Like attracts like. In other words, you get what you put out.

If you are focused on how people are screwing you over, you get screwed over more. If you are focused on how people are in a buying mood, more people in a buying mood show up. You are the controller, guide, and director of your experience.

This isn’t an assertion-based universe. That means people can’t do things to you that you haven’t requested. There are no victims. The concept of victim is a conversation developed by people who are unwilling to be responsible for where they generally put their thoughts. What you think about expands.

You’ve had this happen to you before. You have one bad experience, you focus on it by complaining, another bad experience arrives and you get even more upset, another one comes along, and on and on it goes. It’s easy to sink into this downward spiral especially in sales.

As a Conscious Salesperson, you can’t afford to get caught up in the currents of bad moods, upsets, disappointments, blaming others, self-pity, and hostility. These thoughts emanate out from you like a giant magnet, and the stronger the feeling, the stronger the pull toward it.

Think about a time when a friend was in a bad mood. Did it make you want to be around him? No, of course not! The only time you feel like being around a friend in a bad mood is when you’re in a bad mood yourself. How about a friend who was upset, but was trying to cover it up? Could you still tell there was something not quite right? Of course you could! Therefore, to think you can hide your moods is simply ignoring that we live in an attraction/vibration-based universe. Whatever you are thinking about and feeling emanates out from you, and all the people around you can sense it. They may not be able to put it into words, but people get a general feeling.

So the question becomes this: “Which feelings will serve you and the client best?” Or, “Which feelings will make selling enjoyable?” Whatever you feel, the clients will feel. If your clients are feeling confident, happy, and excited, they will more likely be willing to hear what you have to say and then buy. If the client is feeling nervous and weird, they are more likely to hesitate, be distracted by these feelings (which they are getting from you), and obviously not buy.

What’s the Solution?

Now that you are on the path to becoming a Conscious Salesperson, you must begin with mental practices, rituals, and disciplines. As you read through these mental gymnastics and implement them in your day-to-day life, you will find that your clients will begin responding to you in a very agreeable way. Suddenly, people all around you (co-workers, family members, and friends) will start saying things like “What’s going on in your life? You seem so happy.” Even more exciting: you will be happy. You will be happier than you’ve ever been in your life.

This happiness you feel (you are starting to feel the beginnings of it even now) will be the catalyst to quantum leaps in your sales. Clients will come from places you never expected. People who have never referred business to you before will suddenly start sending leads and sales your way. Clients who have resisted your efforts in the past will spontaneously buy. Know that your whole life is changing, starting now.

So let’s get this straight right from the beginning: To shift from feeling out of control to controlling your feelings, you must implement mental discipline. Ultimately, the path of the Conscious Salesperson is full of mental disciplines. As you continuously practice mental discipline, you will begin to realize that you don’t have to work hard to get business. Business will simply come to you when your thoughts are lined up properly. Now let’s look at some of the disciplines.

The “Perfect” Game

There is only one person who can decide whether you are in the right place at the right time and that’s YOU. Your perspective about your current situation is either pushing you forward toward your goals or holding you back. The universe will deliver to you exactly what matches your dominant thoughts.

There’s a game you must begin playing to power up your ability to Reduce Effort and Attract Sales Effortlessly. It’s called the “Perfect” Game. The “Perfect” Game challenges you to view the world as “perfect” exactly the way it is and exactly the way it isn’t. Start by figuring out today how everything that has ever happened to you is the perfect thing and that where you have been and what you have done has led you to where you are today.

Why is today perfect? You are alive! You have a body! You have opportunities to contribute! Choose anything in your life and declare it perfect. Come on. Do it right now. What’s perfect in your life?

Think.

Think some more.

Next, create a story as to why it’s perfect. Everything you believe about yourself and your life you made up, so you might as well make up things that support you in being happy. What’s a believable story as to why everything in your life has been perfect? Come on. Really spend a couple moments and create a story.

Look at the Perfection in All That Is Wrong in Your Life

Every time something goes “wrong” in your life, ultimately you benefit from it. If you are reading this article, you are the type of person who seems to “get by” no matter what happens. Start looking back on all the things that have ever gone wrong and notice how you benefited from those situations. Think of a recent situation that went wrong but ultimately you benefited from. “Science of Success” founder Napoleon Hill says, “If you were diligent about it, you could find the seed of equivalent benefit in every adversity.” Start getting excited about your problems, crises, and disasters. Without these contrasting moments, you wouldn’t know how good you have it most of the time. If everything were always a bowl of cherries, you wouldn’t know you had it good. You must have dark in order to know light. You must have wrong in order to know right. (Sounds like a good song lyric to me!)

Every time something happens that isn’t what you expected, start saying “Thank you, universe, for sending me this contrasting moment. I needed this to know how good I have it most of the time.” Start declaring everything “perfect.” Your boss tells you that your commission rate is being lowered. You say “Perfect,” then, make up a reason why: “I’ve been wondering how I was going to go to the next level and make more sales.” A prospect you’ve been counting on to close suddenly decides to not buy. You say, “Perfect!” Then make something up like, “I was getting too attached to that deal closing and it was making me feel off-kilter and out of balance. Now, I can get back to feeling good. I know the universe will always provide for me.” Say that last part out loud and notice how true it feels: “I know the universe will always provide for me.” Choosing to focus on what works is rebellious. People will think you are being a “Pollyanna,” and you know what? You are! A Pollyanna makes people feel good and feeling good causes people to lower their guard. When people lower their guard they will see that you are there to help. When people see that you are there to help, anything becomes possible.
