Why can't I find a contact after I created it?

Symptoms
A contact is created in Prophet but when you search for it in a view it does not show up. Attempting to create the contact again gives error that contact already exists.

Solutions
The contact gets created in the contact folder but the contact folder is either not registered or not syncing properly with Prophet. We will need to re-register your working Contact folder. Use the steps below to do this.

Step A: Create a Temporary contacts folder in Outlook
  1. Select Outlook's Contacts folder by clicking on ‘People’ or ‘Contacts’ depending on your version of Outlook:

  2. Right-click on the Contacts folder and select ‘New Folder’ from the dropdown. Name the folder ‘TEMP’.

    Step B: Set Prophet to the 'Temp' Folder
    1. Click on ‘Mail’ in the lower-left of Outlook and then click the ‘Contact Manager’ folder. Once Prophet loads click the blue colored wrench icon next to ‘Tools’.

    2. In the Prophet Administrator window that opens up take note of the name in the field below the ‘Working Contact Folder’ button, we will need it later. In this screenshot the folder’s name is simply ‘Contacts’ yours may say something else.
    3. Next, click on the ‘Working Contact Folder’ button.

    4. In the ‘Set Working Contact Folder’ window that opens up, click the ‘Refresh’ button (two arrows pointing in a circle) first.

    5. Wait for the view to be updated then put a checkmark next to the ‘TEMP’ folder then click ‘OK’.

    6. Click ‘Yes’ to register the folder and then click ‘No’ when prompted to sync. Then click ‘Close’ on the Prophet Administrator window.

      Step C: Unregister the Old Folder from Prophet
      1. Click the ‘Edit View’ button in Prophet's 'Contact Manager' folder.

      2. Click the drop-down menu next to ‘Select Contact By:’ and choose ‘Contact Folder(s)’ if it is not chosen already.

      3. Click on the name of the old folder we took note of earlier to highlight it in blue, then click on the ‘Exclude’ button

      4. Click ‘Yes’ to the prompt that pops up.

      5. Click ‘Cancel’ on the ‘Contact View Options’ window.

        Step D: Re-register the Original Prophet Contact Folder
        1. Click the ‘Tools’ button in Prophet's 'Contact Manager' folder.

        2. Click the ‘Working Contacts Folder’ button.
          Image
        3. In the ‘Set Working Contact Folder’ window, check the box next to the folder we took note of at the beginning of these steps. This is the same folder we just excluded.

        4. Click 'OK' and then 'Yes" to register the folder.

        5. Click 'No' if you are prompted to sync the folder. Then close the 'Prophet Administrator' window.

          Step E: Exclude 'TEMP' Folder from Prophet
          1. Follow Step C, but Exclude 'Temp' this time.

            Your Issue should now be resolved.
